Rescue, Redemption and Restoration in Christ
Easter fulfills God’s promise to rescue, redeem and restore His people through Christ, His beloved son. Jesus dwells among us, fully God and fully man. Jesus felt all the emotions, from joy to sorrow, but He never gave into temptation. He knows us because He created us. He stitched us in our mother’s womb. He knows how many hairs are on our head. He knows the call of our hands. He knows the deepest part of our heart. He loves us unconditionally. He forgives us unconditionally. Jesus’ resurrection provides our rescue, redemption, and restoration.
God doesn’t need us, but we need Him. Foolishly, we believe the lies of the world telling us that we can do life on our own or that we are weak if we cling to Jesus. Yet, everyone needs Jesus. Everyone needs the gracious rescue that Jesus provides. Everyone can receive the freeing redemption from sin that Jesus offers. Everyone is restored by Jesus to His Father, our Creator, forgiving all our sin.
People afflicted with mental illness cannot understand that rescue, redemption and restoration is available for them too. They cannot comprehend Jesus’ unconditional love and forgiveness. Our marred, sinful world is a cruel place. People don’t look on others with compassion like Jesus. Sadly, even Christians fail too often, perhaps seeing the afflicted as dangerous, not understanding their conditions. Our Savior sent us His helper, the Holy Spirit, to encourage us to boldly look on them with compassion. Jesus came to us and we are called to share this amazing rescue, redemption and restoration through Him. Do you know someone afflicted whom you can invite to share in your Easter celebration?
